Guiding question: Why do we need to construct symbolic and material borders in an increasingly post-territorial world?
Debate contour:
- Constructing cultural and civilisational borders in the Mediterranean space. "Us" and "them" in the neo-apocalyptic era.
- Who, how and why does construct the symbolic and material boundaries of theMediterranean space in the neo-apocalyptic times?
The panels:
- Analysing the discourse on the borders of the Mediterranean space in the public sphere: actors, institutions, ideas.
- The borders of the Mediterranean space in light of the research on the content and substance of the Mediterranean studies curricula: How are the borders of the Mediterranean space understood, studied and taught in Mediterranean Studies curricula?: The case studies of Spain and Italy, Central Europe and the Balkans, digitization in the Mediterranean Studies curricula.
- Different trajectories of civilisational boundary drawing in the Mediterranean space as reflection of a debate on the future borders of Europe? Culture, society, politics.

The abstract should correspond to one of the research problems relevant to the content of the conference panels. It should not exceed 600 characters. It should include the problem statement, c.a. 5 key words as well as an institutional affiliation of the contributor and an e-mail address for communication.
